Travel tips
- Ask for a mix of 100s and smaller notes. Taxis, tips and small shops in the US often refuse 100-dollar notes.
- Many countries outside the US only accept recent, clean, untorn dollar notes. Keep them flat in a wallet, not folded in a pocket.
- Tipping is expected in the US: 15-20% at restaurants, and a few dollars for porters and housekeeping.
USD questions
Which dollar notes will I receive?
We stock 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollar notes. Tell us your preferred mix when you order; the exact mix depends on stock on the day.
Can I carry dollars as a backup for another country?
Yes. Your total foreign cash for a trip still counts toward the per-traveller trip allowance, whichever currency you buy.
Is the dollar rate the same every day?
No. Rates move with the market and are updated by our team during the day. The rate is fixed only when you lock your quote.
